Why is this change being made?

Later this year, the Australian Government will be activating law that makes providers (such as Scooter Social) liable for those under the age of 16 from joining Social Media networks, without adequate protections in place.

Even though Scooter Social is a private network for invited users only with a valid access code – it may be reasonable to suspect that the law does hold Scooter Social liable for this conduct.

Therefore, we have made the decision to build our Age Policy system which will not allow users under the age of 18 (eighteen) from joining or holding membership on Scooter Social.

When is this taking affect?

This module will be introduced and effective on Scooter Social from 01 September 2025.

What happens if I’m an affected User?

We will identify your account mid-August and reach out to you with communication regarding your Account Status. We will:

As of 01 September 2025, your account will be locked.

We will then forcibly remove and delete your data as early as 07 September 2025.

The age for the new law is 16 years old, why are you making it 18?

We’ve made this decision to 18 years of age to make it fair. As Scooter Social was designed to be for family and friends – we believe that 16 years access may provoke or promote friction and/or conflict between individuals.
